World’s Most Wanted Hacker In U.S. Custody

The alleged mastermind behind a series of ATM thefts is now on U.S. soil to face federal charges. In one operation, the thieves struck in coordinated fashion February 19, 2013. They hacked into banks, copied debit card numbers and in mere hours stole $45 Million from thousands of ATMs in two dozen countries.

The Secret Services caught the Turkish citizen, Ercan Findikogu, in Germany where a court called him the most-wanted computer hacker in the world. Caught in Germany in December 2013, Findikogu fought extradition to the U.S. for another 18 months.
