With increased reliance on computer-based transportation and infrastructure systems, governments around the world are facing a host of cyber security risks.

A data breach at the Texas Comptroller’s office in 2011, for example, compromised roughly 3.5 million private records and cost taxpayers more than $1.8 million to fix. Elsewhere, experts say about 200,000 vulnerable and insecure traffic control sensors have been installed in important cities around the world.
