It’s getting even more interesting. Domenico Scala, who in case you didn’t know is the head of FIFA’s audit and compliance committee, told the press over the weekend that if evidence turns up that the awards to Qatar and Russia came only because of bought votes, those awards could be cancelled. He added however that no evidence of that has thus far emerged, but it is exactly what Swiss authorities, and for that matter the FBI, are currently investigating. It’s early, as some of those already arrested haven’t started talking yet.
