Paul Ryan Hopes To Put Nominee Talk To Bed

House Speaker Paul Ryan on Tuesday gave a speech that he hoped would put an end, “once and for all”, to all that Ryan-as-nominee talk.

For weeks, as the GOP race continues its march toward a potentially contested convention, the former VP candidate’s name has been floated as an alternative to Donald Trump or Ted Cruz.

For weeks,Ryan has been explicit, saying he would not accept the nomination if it were offered. That not getting the desired effect, he held a presser on Tuesday to tell the delegates directly not to vote for him, even if there is no winner after the first ballot. Rather, choose someone who has participated in the primaries.
