Millions Have Their Information Stolen From OPM Hack

Remember when U.S. intelligence and law enforcement officials said that about 4 million government workers had their personal information compromised by that OPM breach? Well, turns out that was kind of an understatement. The U.S. agency has completed its long-awaited damage assessment and announced Thursday that more than 25 million people inside and outside government likely had their personal information stolen. The actual number of victims was vastly bigger because the hackers had access to far more than personnel records, including files associated with background investigations and information on government workers’ families.
