Illinois Locker Room Case Could Go To Court

A Chicago area school district says it will “engage all avenues” in a fight to prevent a transgender student from having full access to a girl’s locker room.

The Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights says the current policy of allowing the student access, but a curtained area for changing and showering violates Title IX rules.

The school says the OCR is overstepping its bounds in the first of its kind decision. The school district says it needs to protect the privacy of the other 12,000 students at its area schools.
