Ebola Nurse Sues Chris Christie

Kaci Hickox, the nurse detained nearly a year ago in New Jersey amid Ebola fears, filed a lawsuit on Thursday against New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, the state’s health commissioner at the time and health department employees.

Hickox was returning home from Sierra Leone to Maine when she was stopped at Newark Airport and then held in an unheated field tent in the parking garage of University Hospital in Newark despite negative test results.

Hickox claims she was quarantined out of fear, rather than science. The lawsuit says the “defendants unlawfully and unreasonably detained, isolated and quarantined Plaintiff, without a valid medical or epidemiological basis, and without adequate legal recourse.”
