The most anticipated powwow involves his discussion with House Speaker Paul Ryan, who to this point has indicated he is withholding his support until he’s assured that Trump is more in-step with GOP policy positions.
There’s also a matter of style. Trump, for his part, as much as he would like Ryan’s support, doesn’t seem overly concerned if it doesn’t come, suggesting it is his very style and positions that have garnered him the record support he’s received in the primaries.
It’s an extraordinary rift, and the question is will it be mended by Thursday’s meeting. And if not, then what?
