Dennis Hastert Pleads Guilty

Former U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert changed his not guilty plea to charges that he illegally withdrew money from his bank account, and lied to federal agents about what he was doing with the cash. A federal judge set an October 28th court date for Hastert to change his plea. Attorneys were told to give the plea agreement to the judge by Monday.

The federal indictment claims Hastert was funneling hush money to an unnamed person to cover up misconduct.

Federal officials have said the misconduct was sexual, and occurred while Hastert was a teacher and wrestling coach, before going to Congress.
