Is your teen a compulsive texter? It seems like most teens are glued to their mobile phones, but new research is showing that some teens take it too far. “Compulsive texting” has now been linked to poor academic performance in some teens because texters might be neglecting work and skipping sleep.
In fact, compulsive texters appear to show signs similar to those of compulsive gamblers. The research found that girls are especially at risk because they compulsively text far more than boys. Boys also don’t seem to have compulsive texting affect their school work.
