CDC Concludes Chipolte Investigation

The Centers for Disease control and Prevention and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration have wrapped up their investigation of Chipotle over a couple food borne illnesses. However they don’t appear to have found the source or the food product that lead to the Escherichia coli O26 (STEC O26) outbreaks. The agencies collected data on the first outbreak in 2015, impacting 55 people in 11 states, 21 were hospitalized.

A second outbreak included five cases in three states. Chipotle announced it would begin a massive ad push, after sales slumped at the end of 2015 over the outbreaks. ABC’s Ryan Burrow joined us from Chicago.
