A lighter take on a serious matter from Bubba the Love Sponge
The Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearing, and Thursday’s session with Christine Blasey Ford telling her story and Brett Kavanaugh offering his rebuttal have everybody talking, and of course Bubba The Love Sponge is no exception.
On his show Friday morning, Bubba addressed the proceedings a bit skeptically, wondering if this is a new way to “destroy lives” in the name of the team sport that American politics has become.
Bubba and his crew go through some highlights from yesterday’s hearings, providing their own commentary all the while. Perhaps “Here comes the lies” could be a new motto for the United States Senate, for some truth in advertising, Bubba suggests.
While making sure not to downplay the seriousness of what is being accused, Bubba goes on to poke fun at the circus that Washington has become these days and the brutal state of politics. Is everything really about one team trying to score points over the other? The way that the accusations have been handled by Democrats suggest it might be, and the response from Republicans of digging in their heels is right in line with that.
None of this seems particularly funny on the surface, but Bubba has made a career out of finding humor almost anywhere. Even something as serious as Thursday’s events on the Senate floor are not safe.
Bubba The Love Sponge has been pushing the limits of radio and the FCC for over thirty years. Changing companies, and the changing climate of the world around him has not changed Bubba or the show. The Bubba The Love Sponge Show can be heard from 6-10 AM on Your Conversation Station, AM 820 News Tampa Bay and 98.3 FM Pinellas County.
