Woman Reunited With Mustang Stolen Nearly 30 Years Ago

SALINAS, Calif. — A central California woman has been reunited with her classic Ford Mustang nearly 30 years after it was stolen.

The Monterey County Herald reports that Lynda Alsip says she couldn’t ask for a better Christmas present than the return of her forest-green 1967 Ford Mustang.

She bought the car for $800 in 1986 when she was a teenager. A year later, it was stolen outside her Salinas apartment.

Police say the vehicle was found at the Salinas Department of Motor Vehicles in September when a man tried to register the car he had for 23 years. Authorities are investigating whether the man knew it was stolen.

Alsip got the car back Monday and plans to have some work done on it. She’ll also install personalized license plates saying “LNDAZ67.”
