Woman Recovering From Surgery Killed In House Fire

LITHONIA, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say a woman killed in a house fire outside Atlanta had just undergone surgery and could not get out of bed to escape the flames.

DeKalb County fire officials say the woman, in her 50s, was on oxygen at the home on Timor Trail near Lithonia when the fire started in her bedroom around 3 p.m. Monday.

Three men tell WSB-TV that they tried to rescue the victim, but her oxygen tank exploded. Dino Lyons says they tried to run into the house to help, but the fire was too great.
