Woman Carjacked While Loading TV Into Car

A woman was carjacked in New Port Richey while she was getting help loading a television into her car after buying it.

Officers made contact with the victim, who stated she was loading a television she had purchased from K-mart with the assistance of a clerk. The vehicle was located in front of the store. As the victim was loading the vehicle the carjacker, 29 year-old Joseph Stamper, jumped into the driver seat and began to drive off.

The victim jumped into the passenger seat and began to yell for the defendant to stop her car while she also attempted to strike him. The defendant attempted to push the victim and told her to get out of the car. The victim was able to put the car into park near the Kia dealership and the vehicle stopped. The defendant exited the vehicle and fled on foot into the Imperial Mobile Home Park. A witness pointed the defendant out to responding Officers.

The defendant was not compliant with Officers and he was taken into custody. The defendant was also positively identified by the victim. The defendant was in possession of a large folding knife in his pocket which was locked open. The defendant also was in possession of suspected Marijuana and Alprazolam. Pasco Forensics responded to process the vehicle as well as a Victim Advocate to speak with the victim who was visibly shaken. Stamper was charged with : Armed Carjacking, Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana (less than 20g), Resisting/obstructing an Officer.
