The World Health Organization and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration are leading the charge to develop a faster way to determine whether a person suffering Ebola-like symptoms actually has the potentially deadly illness.
Currently, the Ebola tests administered in hard-hit Africa can take days or weeks to yield results. With the death toll mounting, researchers are working to develop a test that uses a finger-prick blood test and could give readings in minutes.
