Getting caught with marijuana by police is no longer an automatic trip to jail in West Palm Beach.
Officials have voted to ticket most people found with under 20 grams of pot.
The $100 ticket would not be an option for juveniles, felons, people on probation, and those with DUI convictions.
But juveniles would have the chance to get counseling and avoid having the offense on their permanent record.
Miami Beach has a similar law after finding that marijuana busts weigh down the court system and costs taxpayers too much.
