Valentine’s Day Price Surge Will Not Disappoint This Year

By now we are all used to it. Buy a dozen quality roses a month ago, no problem. Buy them with Saturday’s Valentine’s Day in mind, the price is substantially, way substantially, higher. There are reasons for this tied into demand… the increased labor and transportation costs to get some 200 million roses available for one day of action, plus the pricing leverage caused by the demand itself of course.

This year, who may notice that even chocolate is bumping up in price as well, as the cocoa tree has taken quite a hit from uncooperative weather conditions, causing harvest prices to surge since last year.

This is all before trying to get a Saturday night dinner reservation. Aaron explains the pricing elements behind an increasingly expensive romantic holiday.
