Two Men Charged in Death of Newlyweds

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say two men are charged in the deaths of newlyweds found shot and burned near downtown Jacksonville.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests on Tuesday. They say 36-year-old Jeanette Hawkins and 31-year-old Ricky Morgan were robbed and killed in August and that the victims knew the suspects.

Agency spokesman Rob Schoonover says 24-year-old Emanuel Keith Presley and 19-year-old Tyreyon Octavious Washington are each charged with two counts of murder. Presley is also charged with kidnapping and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. No attorneys were listed for the men on jail records.

Officials say the investigation is continuing and other suspects are being sought.

The Florida Times Union reports the newlyweds were last seen Aug. 15. Their bodies were found in a wooded area on Aug. 24.
