Two Inmates Escape In FL Panhandle

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) _ Law enforcement authorities say two prisoners escaped from a transport van that was heading to Tallahassee on Monday morning.

The inmates were on their way from California and Texas to a facility in Jackson, Minnesota.

Other inmates in the van say 30 year old Michael Rotunno and 28 year old James Banks jumped out of the back of the van during a stop at the Walton County Jail.

Police in seven panhandle counties are on the alert for the two.
