Twelve Units Lost In Tampa Apartment Fire

Overnight Tampa apartment fire forces residents out

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue responded to a a three alarm fire at 12401 Orange Blossom Oak in Tampa.

Upon arrival, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue found heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of the second story. The crews fought the flames from the outside of the building due to the lack structural integrity. HCFR was able to stop the fire from spreading to the adjacent buildings. A total of 12 units were lost to the flames.

The American Red Cross was on scene to help with the displacement of those families. There were no reported injuries to civilians.

Hillsborough County Sheriff Deputies assisted with the initial evacuation. Two HCSO Deputies and two Firefighters were transported with smoke related injuries. One dog was rescued by HCFR from a first floor condo.

At this time, the fire is under investigation.

It is not clear if the occupants had functioning smoke alarms.
