Repairs After Truck Hits I-75 Overpass In Brooksville

State Road 50 and Interstate 75 near Brooksville are partly back open a day after an 18 wheeler hit the underside of the overpass because a crane it was hauling was too tall for the span.

Police say a 2005 Volvo tractor trailer was transporting a backhoe on SR-50 Tuesday when the backhoe hit the overpass. The backhoe was loaded improperly by being over-height. As the tractor trailer, operated by Central Florida Land Services of Brooksville, traveled under the overpass the backhoe collided with the concrete structure and a large amount of debris fell onto the roadway and struck a 2010 Honda causing minor damage to that vehicle. No injuries occurred to 49-year-old Robert Reinisch of Land O Lakes, or to the CMV driver, 56-year-old Kenneth Lee Allen of Brooksville.

As a result of the crash the overpass was heavily damaged.
