Yet again another wrong way driver has been spotted and stopped in Tampa, thankfully before any injuries occurred.
Trooper Dennis Rich was on routine patrol at 2:52 a.m. Wednesday morning monitoring southbound traffic on I-275 near Bearss Avenue when he got a call that a wrong-way driver, in a 2001 BMW X5, was northbound in the southbound lanes.
When Rich saw the driver, he turned around and chased him. The driver, 39-year-old Nicolas Murica of Tampa, was taken to the Hillsborough County Jail and refused to provide a breath sample.
He was arrested and charged with DUI.
