Woman Faces DUI Charges After Slamming Into Restaurant Patio

One person was injured Tuesday night when a car slammed into the patio area of a Seminole Heights restaurant.

29-year-old Sully Marie Torre-Medina was driving a 1994 Honda Accord when she lost control of the car and rammed into the patio at 5016 N. Florida Ave. Two women were sitting at a table right where she hit.

“I saw her coming and she was coming in hot, too fast,” Bart Alvarez, a witness, said, according to the Tampa Tribune. “There were two women at the table right where she hit, and they had just gotten up and walked away when the car came in.”

She was arrested on charges of driving under the influence with injury, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police say the witnesses stopped Medina after she tried to take off after the accident. Her blood alcohol level was 0.16, which is twice the legal limit.

She is being held at the Orient Road jail on $3,000 bond.
