Skateboarders, Beer And More Are Part Of Some Things To Do Around Tampa This Weekend

Strawberries are taking over Hillsborough County this weekend with the start of the Strawberry Festival. Beyond that there are plenty of things to do this weekend for the whole family.

The Strawberry Festival kicked off on Thursday and will run through March 12th in Plant City from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. The festival will feature carnival food with an emphasis on strawberries, as well as rides and concerts. Some big names will be in concert at the festival such as Kip Moore, 3 Doors Down, Willie Nelson, Little Big Town, and more. Tampa Pro comes to town this weekend. The best skateboarders in the world will compete at the Skatepark of Tampa in the 23rd year of one of the most respected skateboarding contests in the world. Fans in attendance can also be on the lookout for rapper Lil Wayne, who has been known to show up to the competition. The winner of the skateboarding contest will win a $20,000 prize and a coveted spot int he Street League Skateboarding Nike SB Super Crown World Championship. Admission ranges from $10-$15. Along with the contest there will be after-parties each night, shows, concerts, and more in the outdoor park. The event started Thursday and will run through Sunday. skateparkoftampa.com.

Tonight the official kick-off party for Tampa Bay Beer Week will take place at Tampa’s Pour House at Grand Central. There will be 40 beers from Florida breweries at the party. The event runs through March 12th and will feature dozens of activities including large-scale festivals and beer tastings, classes, and more. tampabaybeerweek.com.

The Gasparilla Festival of the Arts is one of Tampa’s largest and most anticipated arts festivals. It will take place Saturday and Sunday at Curtis Hixon Park and will feature painting, drawing, photography, print-making, fine crafts and jewelry.
