Events Around The Bay Area Honoring Veteran’s

Happy Veterans Day! Today and continuing on into this weekend Veterans will be honored with events all across the Tampa Bay area.

On November 11th the United States comes together to say thank you to all of the Veterans and active members of the military. What began as “Armistice Day”, Veterans Day dates back to November 19, 1919, which was the first anniversary of the end of World War I.

Events are being held around the whole world, including freebies and parades.

A List Of National Chains Offering Freebies And Deals

Bob Evans: Present a Military ID and get a free meal from a special menu available all day.


IHOP: Free red, white and blue pancakes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Little Caesars: Free Hot-N-Ready lunch combo from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Applebee’s: Free meal from a special menu. Get a $5 coupon that can be used Nov. 12-27.

Red Lobster: Veterans, active duty military and reservists get a free appetizer or dessert with a valid military ID on November 10th and 11th.


LongHorn Steakhouse: Free appetizer or dessert, and veterans and their guests will receive 10% off their meal.

Outback Steakhouse: Free Bloomin’ Onion and a beverage. Outback also is offering active and former service members 15% off their meals and their families’ Nov. 12 through Dec. 31.

Chipotle: From 3 p.m. to close, all U.S. military, military spouses and veterans get a buy one get one free burrito, bowl, salad or tacos.

Chili’s: Free meal from a special menu.

Olive Garden: Veterans and active duty service members get a free entree.


Cracker Barrel: Free slice of Double Chocolate Fudge Coca-Cola Cake.

Parades Across Tampa Bay

Hillsborough County Consumer & Veterans Services and the Veterans Council of Hillsborough County is hosting the county’s 52nd Annual Veterans Day Tribute on Friday at 11 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park and Museum. St. Joseph’s Hospital will have blank holiday greeting cards on hand Friday for visitors, patients and team members to thank military personnel. The hospital will also collect completed and handmade cards from the community to send to those serving away from home this holiday season. The cards will be picked up by Support Our Troops and be included in their holiday care packages.  Friday, November 11, 2016 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.  St. Joseph’s Hospital (outside of the chapel) 3001 W. Clearwater Beach will host a unique competition that has never been seen before in Tampa Bay. On Veteran’s Day weekend the 2016 11th Warrior competition will take place with activities starting at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday. Wounded veterans, professional athletes and fitness enthusiasts will work together to raisse money for Companions for Heroes, a non-profit organization that works to save shelter dogs and cats by pairing them with American heroes who are dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder and other combat-related stresses.

The residents of Hacienda Village in New Port Richey announced the dedication of a Veterans Park. The dedication will take place Friday at 11 a.m. A Color Guard, Rifle Unit and speaker will be present. The Master of Ceremonies will be Jim Holland, WWII veteran, a resident of the community and member of the committee spearheading the Veteran’s Park. The Hacienda Community, veterans, and family members are welcome to attend the dedication which will be at 7500 Gibraltar Avenue, New Port Richey.  The site is next to the community clubhouse.
