Two Arrested In Growing $86,000 Worth Of Marijuana

Hillsborough County deputies have arrested two suspects accused of growing 78.55 pounds worth and $86,000 of marijuana in a grow house.

Thirty-eight year old Carmen Sofia Gonzalez and Juan C Rojas-Morejon, 40, were arrested after police conducted a court-ordered search warrant at 12208 State Street in Tampa on Thursday. They received a complaint from a “concerned citizen” and investigated the house.

During the investigation, deputies found two rooms converted for the sole purpose of growing marijuana. They removed 26 mature marijuana plants growing in the two rooms and 43 cloned plants growing in one of the closets.

They also recovered a stolen .40 caliber Glock 27 in the kitchen of the house, of which they’ll do a follow up investigation on.

Tampa Electric Company responded and located an illegal electrical tap allowing unmetered electricity to the house.

They’re both charged with trafficking in marijuana, cultivation of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, grand theft-electricity and own/lease/rent dwelling for the purpose of trafficking in marijuana.

This is the seventh indoor marijuana grow operation that the HCSO has investigated in 2015.
