Thanksgiving Events Going On In The Tampa Bay Area

Thanksgiving is here, and Tampa is gearing up to host many events and activities for families, children, and adults to enjoy.

Thanks-for-Giving Food Drive & Holiday Run: Enjoy a themed run benefiting Metropolitan Ministries. All runners are asked to bring non-perishable food items. In exchange for each donated item, runners will receive an entry to win an awesome Guinness Blonde cooler. After the run runners can enjoy a free buffet and $4.50 Guinness Pint specials, Live Music, and a drawing for the cooler. Goody Goody Turkey Gobble: Whether it’s a stroller or walking your dog, tackle an 8K, 5K or 1-mile out and back race with music and family activities. The race benefits LiveStrong at YMCA. The race will start at 7 a.m. on Thanksgiving day at Amalie Arena, 401 Channelside Drive, Tampa. $15-$40 in advance, $20-$50 day of. (813) 229-1305.

Times Turkey Trot: Make room for a big Thanksigivngfeast by running in the Times Turkey Trot. The race includes the 1-mile Gobbler, Wingding 5K, the 5K Fun Run and the 10K Turkey Trot. Or tackle the biggest of them all, the Clearwater Challenge consists of runners doing the 5K, 1 Mile and 10K all in one day. Free Thanksgiving Dinner: Between noon and 4 p.m. a free, home-cooked, traditional Thanksgiving dinner will be served at an open house-style event with entertainment by Mike Balistierri. Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ, 6315 Central Ave., St. Petersburg. (727) 347-1226.

Thanksgiving Bluegrass Festival: A three-day event offering bluegrass music, all you have to do is bring a covered dish at 2 p.m. for the family traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Sertoma supplies the turkey for this annual event. 3 p.m. at Sertoma Youth Ranch, 85 Myers Road, Brooksville. Tickets at the gate $90, daily tickets $20-$35, ages 10-16 daily are $5.
