Tampa Ranked At The Top On “Least Attractive Cities” List

Tampa Ranked On Travel + Leisure’s ‘Least Attractive Cities’ List

Tampa, FL is a place of sunshine and beaches. However, the busy city just made one list that is making those who represent the city cringe.

Travel + Leisure’s ‘Least Attractive Cities’ list has the city ranked at number 7. However, being seventh on the list is better than being number 1.

“Cigars helped put Tampa on the map when a Key West tobacco magnate moved his factory here in the 1880s. Today, the city is better known for its nightclubs and as the hub for the Tampa Bay region’s booming restaurant scene (like newcomer On Swann, from local chef Chris Ponte) than it is for its attractive residents. Better to bring the friends along for this trip, too, and to leave most hopes for romance at home. The city scored higher for being a girlfriend getaway destination than for its dating scene.”

The list came out just days after Rob Higgins, Executive Director of Tampa Bay Sports Commission, announced the big news that the city will be hosting the first two rounds of March Madness in 2020 at Amalie Arena.

That’s not the first big event the popular city has taken on. Back in January the city hosted the college football National Championships at Raymond James Stadium.

“Each event enjoyed record attendance,” city Mayor Bob Buckhorn said about the event back in January. “The uniqueness of Tampa is that all of these events were connected and highlighted by Tampa’s Rverwalk.”

But it seems that residents of the area don’t feel exactly the same.

Here are the top nine least attractive cities:

9. Memphis, Tennesee

8. Atlanta, Georgia

7. Tampa, Florida

6. Cleveland, Ohio

5. Milwaukee, Wisconsin

4. Charlotte, North Carolina

3. Spokane, Washington

2. Sacramento, California

  1. Baltimore, Maryland
