A man has been found to be the subject of a Silver Alert after a police officer ran a random license plate check at about midnight on Wednesday night.
Tampa police say Officer K. McNiff saw a 2014 Chrysler 200 traveling westbound on Kennedy Blvd. and he conducted a random tag check and discovered that the owner, 79-year-old Dewain Miller was the subject of an active Silver Alert, issued from Osceola County earlier that day.
Officer McNiff initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle pulled over and coasted to a stop. Officer McNiff soon realized the vehicle had just run out of fuel.
Miller was in good health but was lost and he said he had been driving around since 8 a.m. Officer McNiff arranged to have Miller’s vehicle re-fueled and transported to District 1.
A caretaker for Mr. Miller was contacted and responded to District I to pick-up and return Mr. Miller home to Osceola County.
