Tampa man fatally shot outside auto body shop

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — The owner of an auto body shop in Florida has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a former employee.

WFTS-TV reports (http://bit.ly/2qmZxKh ) 41-year-old Benjamin Rodriguez Barral died after being shot Wednesday morning in Tampa at AA Autobody. Tampa police say the suspect, 34-year-old Alex Glenn Alfonso, is in custody.

Police say Alfonso owns the shop, and that he went back to the scene to turn himself in after previously fleeing.

Police spokesman Steve Hegarty says it’s very unusual that someone would return to a crime scene within the hour.

Alfonso has not been charged, but detectives are working with the State Attorney’s Office to determine applicable charges. The case remains under investigation.
