Tampa Man Arrested After Grand Theft

Tampa Police pursued a reported stolen vehicle with burglary auto suspects in the area of N. 43rd St and E. Powhatan.

After a brief pursuit, the suspects fled from the car. One was arrested at N. 36th at E. Clifton. The vehicle was reported stolen by the TIA Police Department.

Air Service and K-9 searched the area, but the second black male suspect was able to get away. However, police arrested 29-year-old Donald Robert Welch of Tampa on charges of grand theft auto, auto burglary and fleeing to elude and driving with a suspended license.

There was no property damage or injuries reported in this incident.

The stolen vehicle was processed for physical evidence.

TIA Police were notified of the recovery of the stolen vehicle. The defendant was transported to HCSO Central Booking.
