Sleeping Clearwater woman raped Thanksgiving

Authorities say a man broke into a sleeping woman’s home early Thanksgiving morning and raped her.

Jordan Christopher Henry, 29, of 1890 Wolford Road, forced his way into the home in unincorporated Clearwater about 3 a.m. through a rear sliding-glass door, went up to the master bedroom where the woman was sleeping, and raped her, authorities said.

Authorities said Henry was an acquaintance of the victim, who is 49.

“This was absolutely not random,” said Cecilia Barreda, spokeswoman for the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. “They are known to each other. … She was targeted.”

After the attack, Barreda said, Henry took off but left several personal items behind.

Pinellas deputies arrested him a couple of hours later.

Henry admitted to the charges against him, deputies wrote in an arrest affidavit, but he said he blacked out after drinking alcohol and only remembered making out with the woman, whom he claimed let him in.

In the report, deputies noted that the woman’s door latch was still in the “locked” position.

Henry remained in the Pinellas County Jail on Thursday on charges of burglary and sexual battery. He was being held in lieu of $40,000 bail.
