TAMPA, FL (December 12, 2014) – All lanes of northbound and southbound South MacDill Avenue will be closed between Estrella Street and Morrison Avenue due to a water main break caused by a directional drilling contractor. Barricades and signs for alternate routes will be in place soon. Please use caution when traveling in the area.
Repairs to the water main are expected to be completed by late tonight. Roadway restoration is expected to be completed with a return to routine traffic patterns by 3 p.m. Tuesday, weather conditions permitting.
A City of Tampa Solid Waste and Environmental Program Management truck was traveling on South MacDill Avenue when the road caved in under the weight of the vehicle. The truck has been removed and taken to Fleet Maintenance for servicing. The driver was not injured. Solid Waste collection services in this area will not be impacted.
