Local Elementary Schools On Modified Lockdown Due To Police Activity

Seven schools in Tampa have been placed on modified lockdown due to police activity in the area because of reports of shots fired near Edison Elementary.

Tampa police responded to the 1600 block of East Cayuga Street for reports of gunshots. The reported shots were not school related, but due to precautionary measures, Edison Elementary, Lockhart Elementary, Middleton High, Ferrell Middle, Young Middle, Sanchez Center, and Orange Grove Middle were put on a “lock-in” status.

Hillsborough Elementary

police say two black males were reported to be arguing and then fired at each other. One male was last seen wearing a green hoodie with tan cargo shorts and riding a lime green BMX-style bicycle.

The other male was seen wearing a white t-shirt and jean shorts.

Police found shell casings in the area and are actively searching for the two men involved in the exchanged gunfire.

At this time there are no reported injuries. This is a developing story and News Talk Florida will bring new updates as they become available.
