A 51-year-old man was found beaten nearly to death and lying in the middle of the street after his pickup was stolen Sunday night, police said.
Officers found Clinton Hattaway, 51, of Gulfport lying in the middle of the 2200 block of 47th Street S just after 6:30 p.m.
He had “trauma to his upper body” and was taken to Bayfront Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, officials said.
Police determined Hattaway was severely beaten during a carjacking, in which the perpetrator made away with Hattaway’s pickup.
The truck, a white 1999 Chevy, was later found at 4601 22nd Ave. S.
Police have not identified any suspects in the investigation.
Hattaway remains in critical condition.
