Detroit Woman Sets Fire To Flag At Lightning Game

A suburban Detroit woman was arrested on an arson charge at Amalie Arena during the Lightning-Red Wings NHL playoff game last night. 35 year old Lena Sinishtaj of Sterling Heights, Michigan, was booked at the Hillsborough County Jail on a charge of first-degree arson of an occupied structure. During the playoff game, she held a lit lighter to the large Lightning flag as it was passed around the crowd. She was able to cause a small burn to the flag. There were approximately 200 people under the flag at the time of the offense. She was being held without bond. According to jail records, Tampa police made the arrest at 7:45 p.m., just after the playoff game began.

The Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Detroit Red Wings last night 2 – 0. They now move on in the NHL Playoffs to the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Montreal Canadiens. Game 1 is Friday night in Montreal.
