LECANTO, Fla. (AP) — Detectives have finally been able to speak to a boy who shot himself in front of teachers and classmates at Lecanto High School.
Citrus County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Heather Yates said in a news release sent Wednesday that the 15-year-old student is recovering in a Tampa hospital.
Yates says the boy assured detectives that he never wanted to harm anyone other than himself and that bullying was not a reason for the Nov. 10 shooting.
Capt. Brad Smith said “it’s a relief” to know the boy is recovering and will be getting the help he needs.
