According to the Florida Highway patrol, 55-year-old Mieko Franz was traveling southbound on I-75 in his 2008 Honda Civic in the center lane. For unknown reasons, 43-year-old Juana Medellin was walking in the road and crossed the path of Franz.
Franz hit Medellin and she was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 4:55 a.m.
