TAMPA, Fla. — Authorities have identified the three victims of a wrong-way crash on a highway in Tampa.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a car was traveling south in the northbound lanes of I-275 when it collided head-on with a tractor trailer carrying oil products early Sunday.
Sgt. Steve Gaskins says the truck’s driver was not injured and no fuel was spilled in the crash.
The victims in the car that was driving the wrong way have been identified as two Tampa women and a male acquaintance: Gabrielle Lanier, who was driving her sister, Lakritra Lanier, and John Pierson of Riverview.
Gaskins says toxicology results will be expected in four to six weeks.
According to FHP, Sunday’s crash is the fourth fatal wrong-way crash on I-275 since February.
Update: As of 1:45 PM, next-of-kin notifications have been completed for Gabrielle and Lakritra Lanier, sisters, as well as John Pierson, an acquaintance of the two females. Troopers will continue to investigate the incident, the fourth fatal wrong-way crash on I-275 since February 2014, with toxicology results expected in four to six weeks.
