According to police, 29-year-old Michael Porter of Winter Haven was in room 242 of the hotel with an unidentified female when the suspect approached the room, banged on the door and fired shots through the window.
The female fled the room and got into a vehicle parked in the parking lot and left the scene. A hotel front desk employee then called 9-1-1.
Porter was shot and transported to Tampa General Hospital where he is in stable condition.
Initially he was not cooperative with the officers on scene. Officers will attempt to interview him again after he is released from the hospital.
