Tampa Woman Convicted of Withholding Evidence

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) _ A 22-year-old woman faces a maximum of three years in federal prison for not telling authorities that her boyfriend was a felon in possession of a weapon and ammunition.

Courtney Brantley was the driver of the car involved in a motor vehicle stop June 29, 2010, that ended when authorities say her boyfriend, Dontae Morris, shot and killed Tampa Police officers Jeffrey Kocab and David Curtis.

U.S. District Judge James Moody said Wednesday that a jury’s guilty verdict last month “by the thinnest of legal threads . is supported by the evidence.”

Police have said Brantley drove away after a traffic stop in which Curtis and Kocab were shot and killed. Morris is charged with first-degree murder in the slayings.
