Tampa Red Light Cameras May Be Turned Off

Debate is raging again over whether Tampa’s red light camera program is worth it.

New state numbers show that accidents are actually up at 22 city intersections with those cameras since they were installed five years ago.
The city has made just $2 million from $12 million charged to violators in tickets.
Tampa’s contract with American Traffic Solutions, which installs and monitors the cameras for violations, expires in April.
