Tampa Police are trying to get an armed woman to throw down her weapon and surrender.
She is holding a hostage in a car at Columbus Drive and Armenia Avenue.
Police say she has fired shots at them.
Traffic in the area is being blocked.
And people in nearby businesses are encouraged to stay indoors.
