Tampa Police ID Suspect After Body Found

A 35 year old man has been arrested on unrelated charges while police figure out how a Tampa man died before his body was found in the trunk of his own car.

Officials say James Sheets II was seen with 79 year old Henry Shell at Shell’s North Florida Avenue insurance and real estate business Saturday. They say someone later found Shell’s body in the trunk of his car and took it to Tampa Police headquarters.  There is no word yet what the relationship between the two men was but they apparently drove around together Saturday night in Shell’s car.

Sheets is charged with stealing Shell’s car and with drug possession. But there could be further charges later depending on what the medical examiner says about Shell’s cause of death. Right now, the death is considered suspicious. Sheets was just released from the Florida State Prison this May after serving 14 months for Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer and Resisting Arrest with Violence.

Anyone who saw the victim, his vehicle, or the suspect is urged to call Tampa Police at 813 231-6130.
