Tampa Mayor, Council To Share Police Review Board

It looks like the controversy over who appoints members to the new Tampa Police review board is over.

Council will pick four members and the mayor will pick five members plus two alternates.

Council and Mayor Bob Buckhorn have been at odds since Buckhorn said the city charter gives him sole power to pick the police review board.

As part of the compromise, the board will not have authority to force anyone to testify.

The police review board will look at cases involving police shootings, high speed chases, and other controversial cases.
