TPA Businessman Causes Disturbance On Flight

A Tampa restaurant executive was arrested after causing a disturbance that frightened passengers on a flight this weekend to Key West.

Richard Alan Calderoni, 50, was allegedly loud and used abusive language on the flight, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said. Calderoni would not turn off electronic equipment, intentionally blocked the aisle with his legs and made a sexual gesture at a female flight attendant, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

Calderoni is listed as the managing member of GI Entertainment & Restaurant Group, which operates Green Iguana Bar and Grills, the Times said. The pilot of the Silver Airways flight considered turning the plane around, but instead called ahead to law enforcement and sheriff’s deputies and agents from U.S. Customs and Border Protection were there at the tarmac waiting to take Calderoni into custody, the Times said.
