The Florida Highway Patrol has closed the Sunshine Skyway Bridge due to high winds.
FHP says winds of 46 to 51 miles an hour are reported at the top of the massive span between Pinellas and Manatee Counties.
The high winds are part of a line of thunderstorms that moved through the Bay Area Monday afternoon.
At one point, a tornado warning was issued when an especially intense cell moved through southern Pinellas.
