Store Owner Shoots and Kills Robber

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. (AP) _ Authorities are investigating after they say a southwest Florida business owner fatally shot a suspect trying to rob his store.

Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies said Jacob Sanborn tried to break into a coin dealership in New Port Richey Sunday morning.

Sanborn allegedly stabbed store owner Wayne Justice, but Justice was able to shoot 25-year-old Sanborn once in the chest.

Sanborn collapsed outside the store and was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Deputies said Sanborn had been a previous customer at the store.

The case will be reviewed by the state attorney’s office, but no charges are expected at this time.

The store owner’s injuries are not life threatening.
