RIVERVIEW, Fla. (AP) _ Authorities say two Riverview teenagers stole nearly $3,000 from a student at their high school who had collected the money for the school’s prom.
Multiple news outlets report the money was stolen from Spoto High School in Riverview on Tuesday.
Authorities say after a lunch period of ticket sales to Saturday night’s prom, two students snatched the money from a peer taking the money to the office.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has arrested one teen. They are looking for a second.
Principal David News told the station security measures were in place. The assistant principal and the school deputy man the selling process.
Parents and other student organizations have donated funds to help make up for the loss since the theft.
